Extrusions
Everything starts with a single polygon, after which, by successive extrusions, a kind of autobot scrap can be obtained.
In this case, we are actually not dealing with simple extrusions. In the latest version of Blender, at the time of writing version 4, the ‘geometry nodes’ have been enriched with functionality and it has become possible to build custom modelling tools.
This is how the tool used to model the scrap works, in broad terms:
In this other frantic video, a preliminary version of the extrusion tool is seen at work:
If you wish, you can download the tool by clicking here; it is not exactly well ordered (the nodes are chaotically arranged) and the performance is not so satisfactory, but it works, after all.
Surely others, far better than me, will propose similar but better realised solutions.
