As far as I know, initially called “QuickTime VR”, an interactive system to view immersive panoramic images: the user positioned at the center of a stage and using the mouse, he/she could rotate it at their command.

In this page, I used “Pannellum”, an open source panoramic viewer, light and in my opinion, satisfactory.
